The Gaithersburg - Washington Grove Volunteer Fire Department is supported by both Montgomery County tax funds and contributions from citizens in our community. Your contributions are necessary and welcome because county funds alone cannot meet the cost of the supplies and equipment needed to serve the 127,000 people in the GWGVFD's "first due" area. To supplement the county funds, the GWGVFD only solicits funds by mail in our community newsletter.

The department NEVER solicits by telephone and, at the request of our citizens, we no longer solicit door-to-door.

Donations fund the acquisition of such items as automatic electronic defibrillators for emergency units, backboards and other emergency medical equipment, uniforms and protective gear. They have also been used to replace and maintain our Canteen vehicle, which provides rehabilitation services on incident scenes, and a Fire Safety House to provide fire safety information to children.
